Healthy BBQ Marinade
I think that seasoning my food properly is the only reason I stick to eating healthy. It’s that fine line that separates those who stick to their plans from those who don’t. It’s that dirty trick that keeps me happy and looking forward to my next meal. Without it, my food would be bland and boring, and with it my whole life would be just as bland and boring.
But spices are not only make everything taste delicious, they also are very healthy. For example, curry powder has tons of antioxidants and garlic boosts your immune system.
Marinades are like the Ferrari of the seasoning world. Marinating your food before cooking it, makes the spices cover it more evenly and penetrate deeper, making it even more delicious. I would like to share with you one of my favorite marinades that works equally well on veggies, fish, poultry, and beef. Check it out and enjoy:
MAKES: enough for 20lb (ish) of meat- I cook in large quantities!
What you need:
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 whole head garlic, cloves minced
- 4 tsp salt
- 4 tsp ground white pepper
- 4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 4 tsp paprika
- 3 tsp dried basil
- 4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup lemon juice
- 1¼ cups red wine vinegar
- 4 cups (32 oz) olive oil
What you do:
- Mix all ingredients until well blended. Pour over food, and marinate overnight.
