According to some studies done by the University of California there has been some evidence that a strict regime of exercise, diet, and meditation can affect your body in a very positive way. The study looked at 35 men with prostate cancer, and the 10 that adopted a healthier diet habits and life style to a timetable of exercise and meditation; had younger cells appear. However, no change was seen on the rest of the men that kept the same life style.
As we get older our cells start to divide and our telomeres get shorter, which are the protective caps at the end of our chromosomes. We start getting weaker which causes cells to stop dividing and then die. But in those 10 men that changed their life style the telomere length increased by an average of 10% which is a significant amount, in comparison to the other 25 men that did not make a life style change, their telomere length actually decreased by 3%. Shorter telomeres have been linked to a whole lot of age-related diseases such as heart disease, and different types of cancers.
